Santa Visits Ponderay for the 13th Annual Santa Sack Project

Comments Off on Santa Visits Ponderay for the 13th Annual Santa Sack Project

Thanks to the generous donations received from the residents and business owners of Ponderay and  surrounding communities this year, Santa, Mrs. Clause and their three elves were able to deliver about 450 “Santa Sacks” on Saturday, December 17th, to community members in need this holiday season. The “Santa Sacks” contain a variety of items including toys, books,  hats, gloves, food and holiday treats. In all about 500 sacks were prepared for children including special sacks for toddlers as well as 75 sacks for local senior citizens. There are remaining sacks available to those that were unable to attend the event on Saturday. They can be obtained by stopping into Ponderay City Hall on Monday-Friday while supplies last.

History

The “Santa Sack” project, which has just wrapped up it’s 13th season, is organized each year by Ponderay city staff, city council members and community volunteers.  Donations are collected annually which are used to purchase the many items that are distributed to the community through this project.

Thank you

A special thank you to all of those who donated or volunteered your time and/or equipment this year. Thanks to your generosity this holiday season the Santa Sack project received record setting donations and in turn was able to prepare and distribute more “Santa Sacks” than ever before.

Donations

If you would like to contribute to the annual “Santa Sack” project, donations are collected at Ponderay City Hall year round in person or by mailed at P.O. Box 500, Ponderay, ID 83852. Please make sure that you label your donation as the “Santa Sack” project.
