BENEFITS TO THE COMMUNITY

The Front Yard Project will extend the POBT in a multi-phased project that will improve public access to natural waterfront. It is an opportunity for us to show off our community, to enhance non-motorized transport between communities, and a great place for us as a community to gather and play. It’s our front yard.

But that’s not all.

Transportation: Connecting these three communities gives us new routes to ride and great commutes for those who live and work along that trail.

Safety: Crossing railroad tracks is dangerous and illegal. Right now, that is the only way residents of Ponderay can access the trail and the waterfront.

{For businesses} Economic: A completed trail would be a great amenity to our area and attract more businesses, and help retain employees.

Education and connection to history: Historic sites like the Humbird Mill, native plants and wildlife, and the cleanup itself on Black Rock provide innumerable education and interpretive opportunities.

Native plants, fish, and wildlife will also benefit from the permanent protection of the lake’s shoreline and wetlands habitat.
