16th Annual Santa Sack Project

Thanks to the generous donations received from the residents and business owners of Ponderay and surrounding communities this year, Santa, Mrs. Clause and their elves with the help of the Ponderay Police Department, were able to deliver about 500 “Santa Sacks” on Saturday, December 14th, to community members this holiday season. The “Santa Sacks” contain a variety of items including crafts, toys, puzzles, books, hats, gloves, personal hygiene items and holiday treats. In all, about 420 sacks were prepared for children and 75 sacks for local senior citizens. Infant and toddle items were available as well.

History

The “Santa Sack” project, which has just wrapped up it’s 15th season, is organized each year by Ponderay city staff, city council members and community volunteers.  Donations are collected annually which are used to purchase the many items that are distributed to the community through this project.

If you would like to contribute to the annual “Santa Sack” project, donations are collected at Ponderay City Hall year round in person or by mailed at P.O. Box 500, Ponderay, ID 83852. Please make sure that you label your donation as the “Santa Sack” project.
